Congratulations to all our Open Water warriors who competed across 6 events at the Swimming New Zealand Epic and Open Water Championships on the weekend. The weather was on point and a stunning venue at Acacia Bay North. We do hope we have not missed anyone as it can be tricky tracking everyone so please email us and we will correct any omissions.
Huge congratulations to
Liz van Welie Aquatics Sarah Cummings for securing BRONZE in the 10km Open Water Championships in the 15-17 age group. Sarah also raced the 5km Open Water Championships and claimed SILVER in her age group. Training partner Kate Dekker swam a creditable 8th placing in the 15-17 age group.
Evolution Aquatics Tauranga Talitha McEwan contested the 7.5km Open Water Championships and secured BRONZE in the 15-17 age group and took BRONZE in the Open Female division. Talitha returned Sunday to race the 5km Open Water Championships and secured BRONZE in her age group. Training partner Arianna Roberts raced to a 5th placing in the 15-17 age group. Evolution Aquatics Tauranga on the podium with SILVER in the 15-17 age Group and SILVER in the Open Female Division. Younger brother Ryleigh contested the 13-14 age group with a 7th placing and Arianna Roberts a 5th in the 15-17 age group.
Swim Rotorua Ryan Logan raced to a 5th placing in his 13-14 age group and
Taupo Swimming Club Rhiannon Scurr a 9th placing in the 15-17 age group. Bailey Conlon
Te Arawa Swimming on the back of a very successful Aquaknights Invitational where he provisionally broke two SNZ Para Records raced to a GOLD placing in the Para Classification.
The EPIC 2.5km had a number of athletes contesting age group placings. Congratulations to
Evolution Aquatics Tauranga Grace Richardson SILVER in the 12-14 age group and Poppy Richardson 17th in her age group 12-14.
Swim Rotorua Hannah Kiernan raced to 13th in her age group 12-14 years.
The last event was the Mid Epic 1km.
Swim Rotorua had Zariah Lomas finish on the podium with a GOLD in the 10-11 age Group. Kane Radford GOLD in the 30-39 Age Group and creditable performances by Nicholas Logan 4th (12-14th age group), Noah Lomas 6th in the 10-11 age group and Mum Naomi Lomas a 4th in her age group.
Te Arawa Swimming siblings Mia Parker raced to a 13th placing in the 12-14 age group and Bailey Parker BRONZE in the 12-14 age group.
Evolution Aquatics Tauranga Grace Richardson raced to a 9th in the 12-14 age group and Poppy Richardson a 16th in the 12-14 age group.
